What began as a trip to drop off five emergency rescue tool kits donated by Ajax Tools of Franklin Park, IL turned out to be a life changing experience for a group of local fire fighters following the September 11 tragedies.  Franklin Park Fire Chief David Traiforos and several of his colleagues were met by crowds of cheering people when they arrived in New York carrying supplies and rescue tool kits.

For five days, the six men helped remove rubble, extricate fellow fire fighters’ bodies and pay their respects for their lost brothers.  Instead of donating the rescue tools at the site, the men decided to give them to fire units that had lost men and equipment.  Chief Traiforos told a local news reporter, “To hear people say thanks, that to me means more than anything.”
